Activities 3-6 years

Abundant environment

The rooms at Mio Mondo have been laid out with a selection of different materials to stimulate all development areas. The rooms don’t only provide peace and safety, but also inspiring challenges. They incite the children’s inquisitive minds and creativity. All the rooms have play materials displayed at eye level, which makes them appealing for the children to use them. Your child can easily choose any activity it feels like doing. Our professionals have carefully selected the various materials.

Children go outside every day in any weather conditions. Your child can have a good time being active in the open air and can run around, climb, glide, jump or go hide. At the same time, the children develop respect for nature. Each age requires an individual layout of the outdoor space. For the little ones, the children’s own limits are safely discovered and explored, the older children need more challenges. Extraordinary natural playgrounds have been laid out at Mio Mondo with sand, stones, wood. Children can also use bicycles, carts and other outdoor play materials. It’s a challenging environment that makes adventurous and creative play appealing.

Toddlers can do sports and move around in the play room of Mio Mondo’s main building. This rooms enables toddlers to develop their gross motor abilities. Skills such as climbing, clambering, balancing, throwing and catching etc. are practised here.

Samen sterk

At Mio Mondo, your child is encouraged to share and work together during play. The children at Mio Mondo learn together to take care of their own environment, of each other and they develop a sense of solidarity.

Once a month we organize a open stage at Mio Mondo’s central hall. Children can perform or show their talents by themselves or together with others.

At Mio Mondo, all the professionals work together with the parents on the best possible development of your child. Clear communication is a vital aspect to this. That’s why we like to hear in the morning from the parents how their child is feeling. By the end of the day, the Mio Mondo staff will be pleased to tell you what activities your child has done on that day. A small notebook is displayed at each group, which parents may use to write something in or to add something the teacher should know. Alternatively, the parents may send the teacher a digital message via our app: ‘schoudercom’ (school-parent-communicatie)

World citizenship

The offered activities will help your child to discover the world at Mio Mondo. Based on theme lessons, your child learns how to organize the world around him or her. Through lessons from a musician, artist or scientist your child becomes acquainted with a great number of skills to enable him or her to discover his or her own talents. We also take children out in the neighbourhood. Every year, we visit a farm, the public library and a museum.

A dance teacher, musician or artist comes in to dance, make music or do craftwork at the children’s workshop. One week your child will for example learn an autumn dance or imitate animals to music and in another week, your child will be working with exciting materials such as duck tape, aluminium foil and beautiful residual material.

Independence and responsibility

Besides the joint activities, your child will every day have plenty room to play and work for longer periods of time. With set routines, your child will learn what to do during this period, to finish his or her job and when the child is done, to clean it up and pick up something new. Your child will develop focus, learns to make choices and solve problems.

Besides the development of independence, children at Mio Mondo also learn about responsibility. Children learn about real responsibility for activities by showing care for the environment and for other children in the group and by for example looking after plants and animals.
